ASUS P5NSLI Review

By Ken Xu on Jul 4, 2007 in Motherboard, Review

ASUS P5NSLI give a great computing experience. To tell you the true, I actually bought one! :)

ASUS P5NSLI performances is amazingly good! and great board design to allow me put more expansion card into it.

Ok, to shorten the time, I will tell you what is the best of this ASUS P5NSLI.

ASUS P5NSLI supported every line of intel processor. From their grand daddy of Intel Celeron to their little just born baby (Core 2 Duo) . It makes a possibility for you to upgrade your processor for the future.

P5NSLI have supported the 1066Mhz of front side bus. This is the second latest speed of Intel processor FSB now. P5NSLI also provide you a whooping 4 slot of memory (dual channel supported). Upgradable to total of 16 Gigabytes!

(If you have the change to upgrade to that level, please let me know how’s the performance! Kind of curious of what P5NSLI will be on that level of memory )

Supporting S-ATA 3Gb/s is the one of the main value of this board. Allow you to transfer your data quicker than the old SATA connection.

You also can enjoy SLI-Intel mode. Which let you to use 2 graphic card together to boost you graphical terms.

A non-sophisticated BIOS menu is integrated on this board. You will easily understand how to use it well. And all is already clearly written on the manual book.

Although P5NSLI only supported 6 channel audio, this board is cool because it already have a “HD” (High Definition) sound system supported!

Although ASUS P5NSLI have many good features, this board also have some negative side. Make sure you don’t get to buy wrong memory type. P5NSLI doesn’t support DDR1 400 PC3200.

This board have a little amount of mounting hole for casing. You’ll need to find case that can compatible to P5NSLI. But don’t worry, I found that “Simbadda” Cases, especially SimCool, suit this motherboard.

Other problem is located at the expansion slot. It seem that you can’t use P5NSLI PCI express x1 after you have put the SLI mode to work because The PCI express x1 slot is located between the PCI express x16.

So, Decide wisely before take any action.

A good review Ken BUT if you have the time stick 4gb of ‘compatible’ memory in this beast so that all four slots are occupied and then see if your system is stable. I’m curious to see if your system remains stable especially after power off and then on as well as stable memory timings and latency.

I see, Robert! :) So, ASUS P5NSLI is not capable to upgrade more than 4 Gigabytes? I only use 2 Gigabyte in two slot now… I think you have spot another “negative side”. Thanks Robert!
